February 2026: an extraordinary month, a mixture of tension, passionate joy and sheer excitement. Anna Lisa, who was involved from the very beginning, takes stock and shares some fascinating insights!
There were 10 days of competition, 11 races, and a total of 172,000 spectators who watched events at the Antholz Biathlon Arena. Simply amazing!
At the hotel, we cooked strictly in accordance with the recipes and the ingredient measurements; every dish was served up with the relevant nutritional information and dated samples. There was no alcohol, and everything brought into the hotel had to go through the scanner. Anything in the rooms that bore a logo of any kind had to be removed. Instead of double beds, there were single beds; all towels, laundry bags, Olympic blankets and even extension leads with adaptors were meticulously logged. Washing machines and tumble dryers were brought in separately – with different ones for athletes and staff. Every window and door was sealed, with only the main entrance accessible: there were 24-hour security checks, accreditation procedures and body scanners – just like in an airport.
We put heart and soul into it for weeks and weeks, and shared in the excitement for days on end. And we made sure that both the athletes and the workforce here with us were properly looked after! The resulting atmosphere was fantastic – almost Olympic-standard of itself!
